mdlbear: portrait of me holding a guitar, by Kelly Freas (freas)

I have a tentative setlist for my Baycon FGOH concert (Saturday at 5pm). It times out to considerably too long, especially allowing for sound checks and so on, so I'm going to have to cut at least one, more likely two songs. Also, the order is almost completely up in the air. Suggestions?

Here's the list:

   1: 2:20 Cicero in the 21st Century
2: 4:18 Keep the Dream Alive
   3: 3:45 Riverheart
4: 4:45 The Stuff that Dreams are Made Of
5: 2:15 The World Inside the Crystal
   6: 3:25 Inherit the Earth
   7: 3:06 The Toolmakers
   8: 3:15 Wheelin'
   9: 4:00 The River
  10: 3:30 A Talk With the Middle-Sized Bear
  11: 3:30 A Tribute to the Middle-Aged Bear
12: 2:39 The Rambling Silver Rose
  13: 4:00 Ship of Stone
  14: 7:00 Millennium's Dawn
  15: 12:00 Quiet Victories
total: 63:48 in 15 songs

and some notes:

The only ones that aren't on the table for dropping are QV, Riverheart (which has become a performance show-off piece for me), and Toolmakers (Kat's going to be at the con, and does a good drum part). I'd like to keep the Bears, too, because they weren't done last year.

For reference, here are last year's Tres Gique and Tempered Glass concerts. Note that none of my usual bandmates will be at the con except for Kat; if anyone wants to jump in on something, let me know.

Order is also almost totally up for grabs; I think either Cicero or Dream makes a good opener, and QV has to be last because I can't think of a way to follow it with anything.

I'll also take suggestions for replacements -- any old favorites? Daddy's World?

Can you email me links (if they exist), to the lead sheets for October Country, Where the Heart Is, and Nemesis?

As for set list ideas... do you want the set to have a theme? What's the con's theme for this year? Knowing answers to those will likely yield more cogent suggestions! :-)

Hmm. Good point -- I was really only thinking of showcasing myself as a songwriter and performer. But the con's tagline is "it's an adventure". So things like Inherit the Earth, Riverheart, and even Wheelin' and The River fit pretty well. And Ship of Stone. Rosie's marginal.

I don't really know your repertoire, having only seen you in the Hall of Fame concert and the FKO circles, but I don't see how including Ship of Stone showcases you as a songwriter or performer. But then, I tune out and daydream every time someone does Ship of Stone (and I KNOW I am not the only one). I find the music so boring the story is lost to me. Maybe you do it better. But I'm sure I'd enjoy other choices more.
