The Mandelbear has been kicking around the computer industry long enough to have been in grad school when the ARPANET was set up. The name comes from the Middle-Sized Bear (in Cordwainer Smith's "Mark Elf") meeting up with the Mandelbrot Set in alt.callahans. The result, an infinitely fuzzy, vaguely ursine fractal, can be seen in the default icon.

Many of my posts (the ones with subjects starting with "Done") include extracts from my "to.do" log. You can read about "How to.do it".

I expect that many people will still be reading [livejournal.com profile] mdlbear on LJ (mdlbear.livejournal.com). Everything I post here is crossposted there, but comments have been turned off and redirected here. I have reading lists on both sites, and read comments both places; anyone who turns off comments on LJ -- thank you, by the way -- will be dropped in favor of their DW account.
