gut-punch

When I saw you had a link about a(nother) high school in the town where I grew up, I had to check it out. At the time I lived there, the only choices were the public high school, or the private (and expensive) Catholic one, and that was it. My dad was strongly opposed to private religious schools, and we couldn't have afforded it anyway. Options like Lincoln simply did not exist, not anywhere.

The scenario in the write-up? I knew better than to "mouth off" to the teachers, but otherwise, that kid could've been me, a quarter century ago. What sucker-punched me was this: nobody, EVER, asked what was going on. If they had I'm sure I would have broken down in tears, so in a way I'm glad they didn't, but ...

Sporleder is right. The brain physiologist is right. Thank ghod that the information is "going mainstream". It has probably already saved lives, and likely will save many more.
