A day of civic duty
Voted this morning using the new touchscreen machines -- Sequoia, fortunately, rather than Diebold, which are apparently still giving trouble (no surprise considering that they're apparently running Windows). Supposedly they'll all be equipped to generate a paper trail come November.
The site was a new one for this precinct; a little hard to find, but plenty of parking.
I voted for Kucinich; it didn't look as though my vote was going to make a difference (as indeed it didn't), so I figured I'd vote for the candidate who matched my views the best, as a form of protest. Seems about 5% of Californians did the same. Looks like Ahnold's propositions are passing, and the one that would have made it possible to actually pass budgets along with the taxes needed to pay for them is going down in flames. Idiots! People do tend to get the government they deserve.
On the way home, I stopped off at the Red Cross to give blood. They'd called me last week. I tend to be rather lax about donating, and usually go in only when they call me. I'm only working on my 8th gallon after some 35 years -- that's less than 2 pints a year on average. Sigh. I'm still working on
chaoswolf to try it.
