Done yesterday (20110220 Su)
0220 Su * up 6:30; W=198.2; drugs, nose, teeth, light; laundry, coffee * the new batteries fixed the phone in the office. Yay! * 15min: puttering in office; put Shure earbuds in shoulder bag @ Epson Artisan 50 Ink Jet Printer - Product Information. * Fry's (printer + misc), work (pick up Nile), about a 30m walk to the airport and through the lobby at P-con. * 3 of Jilara's eggs for lunch. over easy, over rice * Drive with Colleen - back at 3pm * 15min: decluttering desktop (just tossing stuff into a box, not sorting) * 4pm YD's audition -> She's in!! 3-year contract, training, free photo shoots (prints are $2/each) * $2950 xfer from svgs to cover tuition (check postdated Tues 2/22) (apparently it'll even post transfers on Sunday. Cool!) Used some of the student loan left over from DeVry @ MoveOn.org: Top 10 Shocking Attacks from the GOP's War on Women * 15min: set up printer, load ink. Install on Silverlode install on Trantor, networked via Silverlode. % 9:30 dozed off in my chair % 9:40 *very* sleepy. Cold. & dishes. One of the few things that actually wake me up. Standing? * bath. Splat about 10:30
The main thing was the YD signing a 3-year modeling contract. She gets a couple of months of training, which costs just south of $3k, but is one-time and includes free photo shoots. After that... it turns out there are a lot of modeling jobs in San Francisco.
I also picked up an Epson Artisan 50 printer at Fry's, and got in a half-hour walk. The Artisan 50 prints on CDs and has very fast-drying, water-resistant ink. I installed it on my work MacBook, which runs the CD-printing software. Eventually I'll find, or make, templates for the Gimp; this was quick.
In the early afternoon I went out for a drive with Colleen -- everything was clean and beautiful after the rain. In between I did a lot of puttering, mostly in the office.
I faded out rather quickly -- by 9:30 I was falling asleep in my chair. A round of dishes woke me up enough to take a bath; I went splat around 10:30.
Aside from the printer, the only link under the cut is from MoveOn.org: Top 10 Shocking Attacks from the GOP's War on Women.
So... a good day. It wasn't quite enough to lift me out of my current mild depression for more than a few hours, but I'll take what I can get.

YMMV.

However this reminds me of certain scams in publishing, so I am a little concerned.

I'd recommend getting an opinion from an attorney who's familiar with the industry before signing the contract or handing over the money.
