I *HATE* cars!

Took the Honda in Friday because the transmission was acting up. They put some fluid in it and ran some tests. Now it seems to be losing fluid ... somewhere. I didn't see the usual red puddle; it's either leaking mostly when it's running, or it's getting burned up somehow. Either way, not good.

Only thing worse than owning a car is trying to live without one in California.

I took Sammi the Bull (my Taurus) in to get her tranny fluid changed, and the fabulous guy at the oil-change place I usually go to said he would need at least two hours, because the engine compartment is so crammed full of crap he'd have to take the front grill off to get to it. And I haven't HAD a day where I could just drop it off and let them work on it yet...and meanwhile, the damn thing is clattering at me every time I accelerate, and I'm worried about what other damage I might wind up doing.

(I still need to call the mechanic that got her back on the road, and see if he'd be able to do it more easily - but they're not open on weekends, damnit.)

Heh, I used to do all my own engine work, servicing, back when cars were---different. I don't understand half of what's in there any more, and a lot of it needs a computer, anyway. Your description of the engine compartment reminds me of my old Fiesta, which I described as having been designed like a chinese puzzle box. Not quite as bad as my friend in college's Austin Marina, where we had to remove half the stuff under the hood to change the spark plugs, but close. You had to remove unrelated pieces in a precise order, on both. (On the other hand, there were luxury cars in the '60's where they had to drop the engine to change the oil.) No, I don't work on my own car any more.
