River: Surreal

The last few days have been deeply surreal. Between Tuesday's nail-biter of a runoff election, and Wednesday's coup attempt, ... I've spent the last four years feeling as though I was living in an occupied country. I was hoping for a change for the better, sure, but I never expected it to happen like this.

I'm looking at the news footage and finding it hard to distinguish from a badly-made zombie flic. I'm not sure which is more believable at this point.

We owe apologies to a lot of writers... because you know when in the zombie/disaster film where people refuse to believe it's happening, and we said no-one would act like that...

Yeah, they totally would.

Hugs. I know what you mean. I made a picture montage to use for my screen "wallpaper". It starts with a picture of Lady Liberty, "her name, 'Mother of Exiles'" and people around the world call on her as the Goddess of Freedom. Then I have Lady Columbia, the personification of America. She welcomes explorers and encourages progress. And I finish with Lady Justice, Keeper of the Balance, whose sword helps her maintain order. May these three Goddesses guide and guard our nation until things are better again!

The difference is that the zombies want brains.

:hugs offered: ‘This is Surreal’ is definitely a common and (for me) relatable response to this awfulness.
