Somehow sort of appropriate

I spent almost the entire day chasing down all of my ``Amethyst Rose'' postings from alt.callahans, and all evening editing them and putting them onto a web page. You can find the results here, and the cover page here.  An appropriate activity for August 4th, and one I should have done years ago.

In the process of trying to locate the missing first three posts -- which are on an Exabyte tape I brought home from my previous job, but that doesn't help much -- I discovered the joys of Google Groups.  Bad Mandelbear.  Now I want to pull together some of my other posts...

Clearly this kind of thing could become an addiction.  And I still have to record my new song so I can put up an mp3...

Yes, I managed to use to recover most of my poetry I posted to R.A.P and A.C back in the early 90s. I keep meaning to edit the poetry into something usable, but at least I have it again.

I understand. I went through my old posts and my "sent items" box and got all my poetry together. It's now safe in a Word document. If you call anything in Word "safe".

Word isn't safe -- you'll have to keep reformatting it to keep up with M$'s changes.

I recommend either plain text (which is of course the native format for news and mail, and pretty good for poetry) or HTML. Non-Microsoft mail and news clients generally support either one-file-per-folder or one-file-per-post archive formats for mail and news.
