Grrrr

Ethernet switches aren't supposed to abruptly stop working. One shouldn't have to power-cycle them to make them work again. Weird.

And its fan seems to be very noisy, too. I get the feeling I need a new switch, and that one is less than 4 years old. Well, I'm down to one free port, and I was planning to upgrade to a 16-port switch anyway. Sounds like it's time.

I'm looking for a 16-port, 10/100MHz, rackmount switch in the under-$100 range -- there appear to be several on the market. Could have gotten one last week for $40 after rebates if I didn't need rackmount.

I have several fallbacks, including the 16-port, 10MHz switch in the same rack, so there's no real urgency.

Fry's had a 16-port Trendline rackmount switch on sale for $69 this morning, so I got it along with a couple of $3 ethernet cards (I'd used one and given away the other of the last pair I bought at that price).
