I don't know who in the US needs to hear this: it's time.

If you have a uterus, or love someone who does. If you're trans, or love someone who is – especially if they're a child. If you were married to someone of the same sex. If you are otherwise LGBQ, or your child is. If you are someone who provides medical care that is or is about to become criminalized.

Definitely, if you live in Florida. Probably, if you live in Texas. There's a whole bunch of other states that aren't looking too good either.

If you're one of those people living in one of those places in the US...

It's time to think about moving.

My extended family includes people in all of the categories at risk. I have already advised my kids, including my trans son, to get their damned passports renewed. Washington (state) is still safe for the moment; all bets are off after 2024, and the US Supreme (kangaroo) Court is already makings things difficult. That will only get worse.

In addition to Florida and Texas, dangerous states include Idaho, Indiana, Arkansas, and Tennessee (all mentioned in comments on Siderea's post); there are others.

Note that the Nazis went after queers first. They didn't stop there. Good luck.

Republicans have just recently blocked a Bill that would shield travelling out of state for abortions. They've also introduced a Bill to criminalise drag shows nationally. (it's likely to fail, this time.)

It always goes from 'maybe we should move' to 'it's too late' faster than you'd think.

Yeah, mine is due for renewal in September. I will end up getting it with my assigned at birth gender, because I don't want to be easy to find. I'm non-binary, but I can fake it to travel. It's shitty that I have to, but my mother lives in Florida, and I want to be able to get out of the US if I need to.

We're in a procarious situation as it is with our job, and seeng as we're seriously short on money (And would have to relicense in any other state save Ohio) it...doesn't look good for us.

(BTW; I (Trausio personally) am bisexual, and so is the body we're in. So yes...not safe here.)

I'm praying for the LGBTQ+ community. It's looking grim. I'm bi, but being married gives me some protective coloration. It doesn't hurt that CA seems to be a sanctuary state for a number of reasons. I wouldn't recommend Riverside, Orange, or San Diego counties as they are more conservative. I know about the first, living in it now. Every two years, I try to get our representative out of office when I vote, but only this time did we come close. He thinks only white males deserve his attention. He's also voted with the QOP block of ultraconservative crazies.

Vote blue.

Back when people first cheated President Obama of his right to install a Supreme Court judge, I declared the court illegitimate because they didn't follow the rules, and predicted that the imbalance and ignoring rules would cause increasing issues. And now it's everybody's problem.

History repeats itself, because people are fucking stupid.
