Solstice Morning
Good morning! I crashed hard last night and slept a little longer than usual; the sun appears to have returned without my assistance. It always does, fortunately.
I live in what passes for a city , so I still haven't seen the sun above the houses across the street, but there was light behind the ragged high clouds when I stood on the porch to look this morning. The pink is gone now; I think I could see the sun by now, but the light behind the clouds is far too beautiful for me to wish them away.
A merry Yule and a happy Solstice to you and yours, and may this year's sun shine upon you with love, friendship, and happiness.

The thought of a little more light generally improves my mood in the midst of all the rigorously mandated celebration I otherwise endure this time of year.

Rounding the Turn
Likewise, the sun marker in
http://www.plergb.com/Analemma/Analemma.shtml
has made the transition to the Capricorn segment of the Analemma.
The "Sun's Longitude" figure now stands at 270.17 Degrees, with the threshold of Capricorn being 270 even. It moves about one degree per day.

I was very briefly looking at my LJ, preparatory to posting Solstice greetings, using a computer at my son's house. He saw your picture there, and exclaimed, "I used to see that guy performing on the street when I lived in Sunnyvale. I don't know his name, but the little kids called him 'Gandalf the Gay'." I think that's kind of sweet, actually (and I think it would make Ian McKellen giggle).

Still, it would be a horrid thing if it wasn't there at all.

But the sun is good, on the whole. As you say.
