Father's day
I'm sitting in the living room next to Colleen, but I'm oddly lonely and melancholy. My 40th college reunion was this weekend -- there was no way I could possibly have gone. One of my kids is nearly a thousand miles away, as are some of my closest friends.
And my Dad died a decade ago. This is one of the days in the year when I miss him most keenly.

Yes I can understand where you're at in some respects. My dad died a few years ago, and even though I have a hubby to celebrate with, it is oddly melancholy for at least part of the day, every year for me.
Happy Father's Day from our home to you. I hope you find some small joy to help cheer your mood.
Love, Hugs and Blessings,
Shadowe

Yeah, there are plenty of small joys, (and larger ones -- it's been years since the kids were small enough to fit into the "small joy" category :) ).
I'll make it.

All of my children are more than a thousand miles away; and, like yours, are grown enough to have lives of their own.
My father passed away last September, peacefully, at 82.
I understand, so well. *wansmile* Be well, and even though there is great distances involved, they are all thinking of you at some point. *hug*

It doesn't help in a practical way, but I do think about you often. I've been in to much of a complicated place lately to call almost anyone but I do care.

I could probably manage to call you, if you like; I'm pretty sure I still have your number in my email.

My father died about a year before yours did. I never really got to know him. Be happy that you knew yours well enough.
