River: watching her work

Apropos of my upstream post about watching people work, it isn't just confined to the kitchen. Watching professionals in some unfamiliar field do their job can be a revelation.

If you'd told me a year ago that my geeky younger daughter was capable of going to a professional photo shoot looking calm, poised, happy, comfortable in her skin, comfortable in front of the camera, and drop-dead gorgeous, I would have asked you for a toke of whatever you were smoking.

If you'd told me that after seeing her senior picture, I might have believed you. I'm still somewhat blown away. I was pretty sure that J.R. Powers was going to be good for her when I signed her up. I mean, ... WOW! (She's not a professional model yet, obviously, but I now think that she can become one if she wants to. I wouldn't have believed it two months ago.

It wasn't just the photographer and her assistant who were fun to watch this afternoon. My Younger Daughter was damned impressive in her own right.

:) It's so nice to read this. I remember thinking when I took pictures at Chaos' wedding that YD was really a beauty, and she'd be stunning if she could develop her confidence and poise. So glad that she's getting the chance to develop her potential. :)

Indeed. I'm hoping we get some of the out-takes back. And I need to scan in her senior picture, which is simply stunning.

Wow. And her attitude has actually improved? If I can see some of those pictures, I might believe you. IMHO: She needs to work out more and drop about 100 lb. That's just me, and she never listens to my opinions anyways.

That whole wedding was a blast, I admit. When she asked me later why there weren't many pictures of her in the album, I thought she was being a prima-donna about getting cake on the dress and was rushing us to get the photo shoot done. I seriously want whatever he's smoking.

Yes, her attitude has improved. At least in public. She could stand to lose 100#, and I could stand to lose at least 50. Who knows? this might even give her some incentive.
