" The Net's secret weapon is that it doesn't care what kind of medium it
runs over. It wants to send a packet from A to B, and if parts of the
route travel by pigeon, flashing mirrors, or scraps of paper cranked
over an alleyway on a clothesline, that's okay with the Net. All that
stuff is slower than firing a laser down a piece of fiber-optic, but it
      gets the job done. "

! calm, contented. Good talk, too.

Hmm. Not a very productive day overall, and somewhat stressful at work, but not too bad. My "walk" consisted mostly of a ramble through Fry's, which wasn't much in the way of exercise but at least was air-conditioned -- it got up into the 90s. I did get Mom's copy of Hearts of Glass, ... mailed, hopefully to arrive before Mother's Day.

It seems unlikely that the Clueless Coworker will get his task done today, so I'm likely to end up with the rest of it dumped in my lap. That's what I get for designing something subtle, I suppose.

The drive after dinner was very nice; most of our conversation revolved around how comfortable the house feels now that the UBF is no longer in it. The YD has been uncharacteristically cheerful; we wonder whether that means she feels it too. That would be delightful.

Although I'm intrigued by the idea of TCP-over-magic, the title of best link for the day is split between ysabetwordsmith's poem "Threads of Magic", with its reference to quilt codes on the Underground Railway, and a great video on Abortion in the United States via catsittingstill, which inevitably reminds me of her song "Underground Rail".

I have got to get that book and read the story about TCP-over-magic! I've been a technomage more or less since birth, but it took me until I was almost grown to realize that the abilities I had with machinery of all kinds were a type of magic. Too many people believe that technology and magic are antithetical... but I know better!

....does that mean she's finally pulling her head out of her ass?

Until she does, I'm probably not going to speak to her.

One of us has to apologize, I feel. *sigh* I hope she stops lying about what happened and pulls her shit together.
