Mixed. A good, solid, three-mile walk by the Guadalupe River, which felt good. Minnie was warm, but perfectly comfortable. I switched her to my right shoulder. After the walk I determined that a rolled-up hat fits nicely in one of her bottle pockets. So that's good, too.

I made some measurements on Chami; I think she's a little small for a weekend trip. The reason Rolly and a small duffel worked was that Rolly is (too) wide, and they stacked. Can't get away with that with Chami unless I leave Plink at home. Maybe if I piggyback some stuff on Plink.

I have a feeling that Minnie and Chami may have things to tell me about relationships, later on. {Let them sort their own out first, silly Bear!}

Meanwhile, though, we got the word that our ship date has been pushed back. Now, that's a very good thing, because the software clearly isn't going to be ready by the end of July. On the other hand, it raises the question of how much longer I'm going to be away from research. I think Tuesday I'll go up to the lab in Menlo Park and talk to some people.

The something between that and my experimental 30% tapering-down of my mood-altering drug has left me a little down. You can see it in the string of "okay"s, down from "good", in my mood strings over the last week or two. I think it's a major accomplishment that I'm actually able to notice, though.

I sang for Colleen and Naomi for almost an hour. That was good. And I slept well. So I'm going to call it a mostly-good day. A couple of links up there in the notes.

I have to say that I'm more than a little annoyed at the term "ace" gaining popularity as an abbreviation for "asexual"... :-(

The music was wonderful, Steve, and I couldn't hear a major glitch on anything except when your throat started to go out on you in the middle of Daddy's World, and that was after a hell of a lot of work. Very nice performance, and much appreciated. *hugs*

I can see why it would annoy you, but I have to support an abbreviation which are linguistically correct and supported by those it describes. I'm sure that Bear Bryant wouldn't be too happy with the uses of "bear" in the queer community today, but nobody gets patent rights on their own name. It is, and should be, still out there in the lexicon for other people to use too.

mouse shoulder. Pretty definitely. The fact that it's a trackball is irrelevant -- it's the button-pushing, this time.

When I was having shoulder problems (caused by something unrelated to computers) I put my mouse on a tray on my lap, sort of below and right in front of the center of the keyboard. There are some annoyances from it not being level, but other than that it's worked well for me.

A trackball may not have the same problem with a sloping surface that a mouse does.

But then my table may be higher than your desk, leaving more vertical clearance for such things.

As a phonetic abbreviation, it does make sense. And if it becomes a widely-used expression, I'll deal. But I did want to make my point first ;-)

If it truly becomes common usage, I'll probably wind up introducing myself, "Hi, I'm Ace, but I'm not" ;-)

(Especially now that my medical misadventures are over, and the relevant anatomy is almost done healing...)

At least with people you're trying to flirt with, this is probably wise. ;) Anyone else could get a simple, "Hi, my name is Ace."

I do occasionally find myself in circumstances where, although I have no intention of engaging in sexual encounters, my sexual alignment is nevertheless a relevant piece of information. Also, people might jump to the conclusion that someone my age must be past any interest in sex - which is not true! - and therefore I must be a prude - which is even less true! But, yeah, just introducing myself as Ace is probably wisest unless I know more about the situation.
