Rocking Horse
2004-10-03 08:34 amHeather Alexander's band, Uffington Horse, played in Palo Alto last night;
chaoswolf,
flower_cat, one of the Wolfling's friends, and I went up to hear them. Great show.
Not as big an audience as I would have expected. There were some major traffic snarls, but I wouldn't think that would keep people away completely.
It's a good thing I bought a package of foam earplugs that afternoon -- Chaos and her friend didn't have any, nor did
finagler, who sat with us. (
finagler is one of my coworkers; I had mentioned the concert to him Friday.) This was the first time I've used earplugs at a concert; in the past I just stayed away or left when things got loud. My hearing is bad enough at this point. The plugs definitely cut the sound down to a manageable level, but I don't like what they do to the frequency-response curve. Definitely a compromise. And I must not be inserting them far enough; no way was I getting 32dB of cut.
