Okay, I think I'm starting to see the difference. This is fascinating stuff, and I think the things I've interacted with that are usually called macros - spreadsheet macros, and things like interpreted languages run during a larger process (letting the user inject custom code as well as use the building blocks provided) are... not probably being called the most appropriate thing.
