Went to see Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow this afternoon -- by myself, since none of my family wanted to see it. Personally, I'm baffled -- they liked Rocketeer, after all. Anyway, it was a major hoot. Giant robots, prop-driven amphibious airplanes, ornithopters, ray guns, flying aircraft carriers, dinosaurs, mad scientists, doomsday devices, Angelina Jolie in black leather -- what's not to like?

The computer-generated backgrounds were seamlessly integrated -- you really couldn't tell that the whole thing was filmed on a blue-screen stage. And the brief glimpse of the Twin Towers with art-deco dirigible masts was only one of many nice touches. When the DVD comes out I'll have to go back over some parts very carefully -- I grew up near NYC.

You got the title wrong

Sky Captain & The World Of Tomorrow. And btw: Rocketeer wasn't all that interesting to me the first time I saw it, but now that I am older I like the movie. Another thing, Emmy hasn't seen it and I don't know if Mom has seen it or will let it into the house.
