Done Since 2020-06-28
2020-07-05 04:41 pmWhere did the week go? It's been a somewhat rough one, and as usual I've gotten very little done. Mostly not as as stressed as last week.
A little more than usual, since I've spent some of that time reading dead trees, trying to shorten my stacks of unread magazines. I think the magazines are ahead at this point. Between discords, signal, virtual conferences, and doomscrolling...
A few small things did get done. I tried out the blue-blocker glasses I ordered last week, and I think they help with getting back to sleep. A little. A tiny amount of singing practice. A computer curmudgeon post. A minuscule amount of programming, writing a Make recipe for adding GitHub and GitLab remotes to Git repositories. (Not really all that useful, I don't think, but it got me into a flow state for a couple of hours. Will probably be more useful with a couple of days' more work.)

@ Gilead's remdesivir set to become Europe's first COVID-19 therapy - Reuters
" ...European price is not yet known. In the United States, a research group suggests
remdesivir can be priced at up to $5,080 per course, while Indian generic drugmakers
will sell the treatment for 5,000 rupees to 6,000 rupees ($66.13-$79.35). "

@ Ripple20 - JSOF #security
" a series of zero-day vulnerabilities in a widely used low-level TCP/IP software
library developed by Treck, Inc. The 19 vulnerabilities, given the name Ripple20,
affect hundreds of millions of devices (or more) and include multiple remote code
execution vulnerabilities. "
" The interesting thing about Ripple20 is the incredible extent of its impact,
magnified by the supply chain factor. The wide-spread dissemination of the software
library (and its internal vulnerabilities) was a natural consequence of the supply
chain “ripple-effect”. A single vulnerable component, though it may be relatively
small in and of itself, can ripple outward to impact a wide range of industries,
applications, companies, and people. "
