I sleep on alternating sides throughout the night, but when I first fall asleep I try to either be on my left or well propped up if I'm going to be on my right side (because heartburn and in particular one specific night with a rather gnarly waking). I figure that the health benefits of being able to breathe through my nose outweigh any particular single-sidedness benefit. My sinuses are not great, and my general observations were recently validated by a dental CT scan that showed a deviated septum that was extremely and immediately apparent to me as a layperson.
