Happy Christmas

chaoswolf's GF Mayhem, her parents, sroth and Bruce, kissmyassterisk (staying with us until after New Year's) and our friend Phil. We had a turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, mulled cider, and a wide assortment of pickles. There's maybe two servings of turkey and stuffing left; the potatoes and gravy are gone.
Had a lot of trouble sleeping last night; not sure why, unless it's because I have to get the Wolfie to the airport around 6am tomorrow.
Got up this morning and made coffee and bacon, just barely ahead of the kids. Had a fine time opening presents; my stocking was filled with canned fish and chocolate. (flower_cat and I had bought our presents beforehand, but my new guitar and her box from Land's End were under the tree anyway.) After that, the kids and Phil went upstairs to watch a movie on the new VCR/DVD combo that was the Younger Daughter's main present. I noodled around on the guitar for a bit, then did the dishes (only the cutting board is left at this point) and helped Colleen start our traditional pot of borscht.
We expect people to start dropping in around noon. Christmas is a miserable time of year to be alone, so we like to have the house open for any of our friends who feel like dropping by. There's bread and cheese, the borscht will be ready about 4:30, and there's still plenty of mulled cider left. (The main seasonal party is still set for next Saturday, New Year's Day.) Yes, that's an invitation.
