Good con -- lot of good singing. I'll try to squeeze in a more general report; here I'll just note that Talis Kimberley is a fantastic performer as well as a brilliant songwriter. Website www.consonance.org.

I didn't sign up for a concert slot at this one, but I was in two "themed one-shot" concerts: the Columbia Memorial and Songs of Don Simpson, several theme circles (Kermit's, Songs for Amanda -- see below), plus a "twofer". I also signed up to do a theme circle on computers, but hardly anyone showed up -- the ones that weren't mentioned in the program book were very lightly attended.

So here's the songlist as I remember it:

  • Columbia Memorial -- "Keep the Dream Alive"
  • Songs of Don Simpson -- "Ship of Stone" (in my opinion the best filksong ever written)
  • Kermit's Filk Circle (remembering departed fans and filkers) -- "The Stuff that Dreams are Made Of", for my father.
  • Songs for Amanda (childrens' songs, celebrating Amanda Bohnhoff's first con, at the age of 3 months) -- "Waltzing with Bears" and "Daddy's World"
  • Twofer -- "Thrillseeker's Waltz" and "The Mary Ellen Carter": two that didn't make it into the Columbia concert.

Not listed: songs performed at open filking, and the failed computer circle.

My performances of "Ship of Stone" and "The Mary Ellen Carter" were particularly well-received, I think. Not really all that good technically, but I think a better delivery than my usual.

More tomorrow, hopefully. I'm wiped. (Up 'til 3:30 last night, and [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf has to be at school by 7:00 tomorrow.)
