2003-05-06 08:12 pmor how much of an online old timer I really am... (from
sbisson)
1. When did you first connect ("go online"), and how?
Well, let's see. Must have been 1971 or thereabouts, when the Stanford AI Lab got its ARPANET connection. I'd been using computers since 1963 or so, but they weren't networked.

My machines at home are all networked, so it's whatever machine I'm sitting in front of. Mostly I use the full-time Linux box (500MHz Duron, RHL 7.3) to minimise the probability that someone will want to play Windows games on it. The machines at work are all networked, too, of course; my current desktop is a Dell 2.4GHz P4.
11. What was your first 'net handle?
I started out as SRS at Stanford; by the time I found myself working at a place with internet access I was using
