Farewell to Summer

Saturday we went to the Mists Coronet tourney, our first SCA event in quite a while. chaoswolf had a great time -- she wants to be a fighter, and helped marshal the Page School boffer tourney. Emmy was bored (though she did enjoy the boffing and made a couple of friends). flower_cat made the rounds with her usual "fallen angel cake", which was as usual much appreciated.

Recipe: Take one grocery-store angel cake. Let it sit around for a day or two. Cut in half horizontally. Pour just about anything with a sufficient amount of alcohol (creme de cassis in this case) slowly onto the cut surfaces. Keep away from open flames. Serve in small pieces.

The weather was surprisingly cool, with fog and a cold wind. The cloaks I threw in to cover our (very non-period) chairs ended up covering us. The forecast for the week is showing temperatures in the 70's for San Jose, after a couple of weeks in the 90's. Summer is definitely over.
