I've actually done a fair amount of writing today, working on the next installment of How I Work. Comes from having my car in the shop and nothing else I had to do.
Major (150,000 mile) service and two tires came to a little over $700, which was actually less than the $1000 I'd been expecting. As long as the annual cost of keeping the thing going is less than the payments on a replacement, I figure I'm ahead. The loaner was a nice little white Honda Civic.
And last night I finally fixed the network speed problem with my file server, which had been slow ever since I upgraded it from RedHat 6.2 to 7.3. Seems the stupid installer picked the wrong driver for an old DEC Tulip card. The genuine DEC chips need
