Saturday we got a catalog from The Container Store, an instance of which recently opened near us, announcing their annual 30% off sale on Elfa shelving. I have been gradually replacing all the wall-mounted adjustable shelving in the house with Elfa, so this is not something I can really afford to know about ignore.

Roughly $350 later, the [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat has new shelving on two walls of her sewing room (the 18"x15" corner is still vacant, and the wall behind the sewing machine hasn't been modified even though it needs at least one more standard).

For those who aren't familiar with Elfa, it's a wall-mounted, adjustable shelving system in which the standards (the vertical pieces) have two parallel rows of evenly-spaced slots. The screws go in between the rows, and so don't interfere with the spacing. The brackets are U-shaped steel, very strong, and require no force to install. (All this is in contrast to the old-style systems, with their single-row standards and sheet-steel brackets that have to be hammered into the slots.)

The sale runs through the end of January (I made the mistake of asking), so I may very well end up spending more $$ next week to put shelves in that small corner.

The usual Starport "sometime around New Year" potluck bash. There will be filking (I need to practice). Yes, it's the same night as SCA Twelfth Night this year. We had the date first. It's only a 10-minute drive, so SCAdians can commute if they want to. However, we will probably not be running a shuttle.

Maps and directions easily reachable from Grand Central Starport's web page.
