My weekend

Well, it wasn't as productive a weekend as I'd planned, but it wasn't too bad. I didn't get to the taxe, but I did get a couple of geekish things done that have been hanging fire for a long time.

First of all, I tried out my Griffin iMic, which in spite of the name is not a microphone but a fairly high-quality USB audio interface. After a long history of not being recognized by the software, I finally have a combination (RH9 + the CCRMA audio extensions) that does. This encouraged me to put the same distro on what used to be [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf's old laptop, which lacks a line in jack.

Then I got DeMuDi 1.1.0 fully functional on my music machine -- that mainly involved fixing the X11 configuration file (it was using the hardware cursor, which was worse than useless) and finding a missing to go with gdm (the login screen). I still can't share files between RedHat and Debian until I unify the userIDs, but it's major progress.

Finally, I tracked down a few of the filk CDs that have my songs on them, and ripped them (with grip). Not on the web yet, though. There are, however, several CDs missing -- I suspect one of the kids has them upstairs.
