Went to Fry's with [livejournal.com profile] chaoswolf this afternoon, nominally to get her a USB keychain drive and a keyboard for her Palm, and get the house a copy of the Indiana Jones boxed set. Both the drive and the DVDs were on sale -- this weekend is a "Grand Opening" sale, or rather a series of one-day sales with occasionally-spectacular discounts. The run was about 50% successful: the keyboard's package said "Tungsten Series", but that apparently doesn't include the Tungsten E.

Along the way we picked up a copy of Gandhi (on the Wolf's recommendation). Managed to see about 2/3 of it, minus the time I spent returning the keyboard. I had just about talked myself into using the refund to buy the Lindows box they had on sale for $99, but fortunately they were out of them by the time I got back there. Last thing I need right now is to spend a couple of days configuring yet another Linux box, and the 1.4GHz Athlon wouldn't have been enough of an improvement over the 800MHz VIA I'm using now. Now, if they have the 800MHz Linux box for around $50 tomorrow, I'll bite.

Meanwhile, I found the printer I need: the Epson Stylus Photo R300. 6-color printing with 6 separate cartridges (big win), and it prints on CD-Rs (very big win for a filker). Prints photos direct from a digital camera. Only problem is that it doesn't seem to have either Win98 or Linux drivers (though Gimp-Print has an experimental one).
