Geekishness
2004-10-17 08:09 pmIt took me all day, but I finally beat my Sipura SPA-3000 and Asterisk into submission, at least to the extent of being able to get the phone port on the SPA-3000 registered and able to dial the demo extensions. I'm gradually getting the hang of *'s wacko configuration language. (Yes, people in the VoIP community usually abbreviate "Asterisk" to "*" -- get used to it.)
The next challenges are getting it to dial out on the most appropriate of two VoIP providers and the phone company (you really don't want 911 calls going out on anything but a real landline with a fixed, physical, local address), and figuring out just exactly how I want to organize the extension and voice menu landscape.
Can't record tonight unless the rain lets up; my setup is right next to the window and the mics pick up the watter dripping from the roof. (At least it makes a good excuse.)

Which OS are You?
Changing my favorite programming language from C++ to Assembler gets me:
