So, how was my day?

Went to the Lamplighters' annual Champagne Gala this afternoon -- this year the title was Lord of the Things, and included pokes at the fashion industry, bridge trolls, Ralph Nader, the Gubernator, and Hollywood among others. The pleasure was diminished somewhat by the Younger Daughter's poor behavior. We keep hoping she'll improve. Maybe next time we'll take someone who'll appreciate the show.

On the way home I had to decelerate quickly getting onto the freeway. This somehow imparted enough momentum to a case of diet coke to cause one can to impale itself on a corner of the cupholder deployed between the front seats. This, in turn, resulted in most of the can's contents ending up on the windshield, though apparently enough hit the stereo to cause it to croak mid-song about twenty minutes later. The YD, who had brought the case on board "in case flower_cat wanted to take her evening pills", blamed herself and wimpered for some time before she finally went to sleep. Actually it was rather amusing, once we managed to wipe off enough of the coke to see the road without an overlay of brown spots.

The stereo eventually resurrected itself, though whether it will stay that way is anybody's guess.
