Spaceship One

chaoswolf mentions (slightly garbled) in her LJ, the two of us went to a talk by Burt Rutan last night at the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts -- she had gotten free tickets in Astro class. I think I enjoyed it more than she did; the Woof tends to be a bit impatient, and of course didn't grow up during the early days of space exploration.
Rutan is predicting 15 years for "affordable" sub-orbital tourist flights; 25 years for orbital (to and from a space hotel). He places fuel costs at $800 and $18,000 (IIRC) respectively.
