Weekend wrapup

We went out for dinner twice this weekend: Friday at Kobe (the kids' favorite local sushi boat place) in honor of super_star_girl's good grades at summer school, and last night at Chef Chu's on the way home from the Lamplighters' production of The Gondoliers. (The Lamplighters are San Francisco's world-class, non-profit G&S group; we've had season tickets for 29 years now.) I don't normally list Gondoliers as one of my top favorites, but I keep forgetting how simply tuneful and lighthearted it is.

This morning I need to renew my DBA for HyperSpace Express (the renewal is 10 years overdue, meaning I'm going to have to pay for another newspaper ad -- urk!), pay some bills that will come due while I'm at OSCon in Portland this week, and order a book or two on OpenOffice for my mother who's trying to learn the spreadsheet app. Suggestions?

Here's the good part: they're asking for their unpaid license fees! And furthermore, "110. Novell also seeks an order from the Court attaching SCO's assets pending adjudication of this claim because SCO is quickly dissipating its assets" [i.e., on fradulent lawsuits]. If Novell gets that, SCO is suddenly out of cash, out of the game, and out of luck; presumably they go back to being a Caldera.

I particularly like the subtlety of the Grand Panjandrum's Special Award. Sorry, I've owned a car with dual Strombergs. The Fantasy runner-up isn't half bad, either -- I've often felt like that.
