Weekend wrap-up
2006-09-05 07:07 am Not surprisingly for the weekend after a Worldcon, I didn't get much done,
though I did manage a walk yesterday as well as Sunday. The
flower_cat was in bed all day yesterday with a fever; she seems to
be better this morning, so perhaps it was a 24-hour bug. Hope so.
We discovered, when I tried to change the bedding Saturday night, that one of our comforters had disappeared (possibly into the sewing room's closet of devouring, or possibly into the trash for having been put away slightly damp into a plastic bag), and a considerably older one had deteriorated to the point where the filling was totally detatched from the outer layers. I took this as an excuse to visit the new Bed, Bath, and Beyond across Hamilton Ave. from the Fry's in Campbell. (This has always been a dangerous neighborhood -- besides the Fry's there's a Staples and a Home Depot, and an Office Max a couple of blocks away.) Came out with a nice full/queen sized comforter for only $30.
Also went to REI, which was having a sale, and acquired a French press coffeemaker ($15) and a folding camp chair ($40). The latter folds down a little smaller than our Coleman camp chair, is a bit lighter (aluminum vs. steel), and has a shoulder strap. I did not go to Fry's and take advantage of their $55 200GB hard drives. Instead, I removed a 17GB tar file left over from the last disk reorganization, which puts me down under 80% on the big partition. I can pick up another 60GB by moving the Debian mirror, so I'm not too worried.
Both pod children were up before 6am again this morning. If only they could do that every school-day morning! Yeah, I know. Fat feeping chance.
