GIP: miscellaneous catching up
2007-01-13 07:30 pm This is going to be a bit disjointed. Mainly, I just wanted to show off
the icon made from the first draft of the Coffee, Computers, and Song CD label artwork, made by the awesome blackfyr while I was off at GAFilk. Pinged
artbeco
about the cover. Things are progressing.
Spent more time than I really wanted to this morning trying to figure out what was eating my DSL bandwidth. Finally, after eliminating the various PCs and the DNS and web servers, traced it to the Debian mirror script -- there were apparently two or three copies running. Upgraded to the latest version, which does locking.
Took a walk, rather late. Started feeling some pain in my right knee, so I turned around and slowed down. The pain stopped, but I can take a hint. I also managed to take a walk yesterday at lunchtime.
Transferred all of the notes I took last week into their proper locations,
mostly assorted to.do
files.
Went to Fry's to see whether they still had any $40 Gigabit ethernet switches. They didn't. Looked at the low-end CPU/Motherboard combinations and found them all a little too low-end; I may hold off on my planned upgrade for a while. It means I'll have to drag my recording box into the office so I can use it for mixing, but that's OK; I need to work on it anyway, and the office is almost quiet enough now that I can record in it. It's annoying that there doesn't appear to be a good streaming audio protocol to go alongside X so you can work remotely, though.
