More progress

It took a great deal longer than I expected, but I finally got the rewrite rules (Apache mod_rewrite) working to redirect URLs of the form .../Songs/foo.html to .../Songs.foo/index.html, and other related havoc. It involved the use of RewriteCond to both limit the damage to the main directory, and extract the path from REQUEST_URI so it could be redirected properly.

I'll probably cut over to updated site sometime this evening or tomorrow, after I've fixed more of the old links. (12:15 cut over. Song indices still need fixing, but since the old links still work it's not a problem.) It'll be safe to let many of them stand uncorrected for a while.

In other news, my weight was down to 180.2 this morning! Definitely progress in the right direction.

This afternoon's outing

The flower_cat's best friend M, who lives just two streets over, invited us to their annual July 4th block party. We trundled over at about 12:30 and got back about half an hour ago. (The Younger Daughter, who's friends with two of M's kids, had gone over at more like 11am and isn't back yet.) Decent potluck; we brought a big salad, and there were hot dogs, two kinds of chili, and apple pie. Relaxing.

Got my walkies for the day pushing Colleen in the wheelchair, plus a round trip to get the Y.D. a towel. The kids, naturally, were playing with things like supersoakers and garden hoses.

See mood

I've been feeling both tired and restless all afternoon, and a little bit subdued as well. Odd. Subdued much of the week; it may be just a reaction to preceeding week's emotional high. Perhaps I'm getting back to what passes for normal these days. I'm not going to worry about it too much.

Got my walkies in around 5pm (Rose Garden); that could explain some of the tiredness, though I was a little tired before I started.

In other news, I've just found out that Janis Ian's autobiography is due out on July 24th, along with a 2 CD "best of" set. Yes, of course I've ordered it.
