Bought a Futura "ankle support" at Long's this morning on my way to work; sort of like the ankle brace I already had except that it has a pair of well-padded plastic stiffeners. Felt really good with my running shoes, except that after about 40 minutes the pad behind my big toe was hurting. Apparently it holds the ankle a little to one side of where it normally sits. Grump. Stopped hurting immediately after I took the brace off, of course; I got a good hour's walk in.
It really made a big difference on uneven ground; I'll try it again a couple of times and see whether I get used to it.
Work is turning (even more) interesting; I'm going to be doing some stuff with a user interface (which I can't talk about yet, obviously). You probably have no idea how weird this is for me; the last time I built a user interface using anything other than HTML was about a dozen years ago.
