OK, so I still suck at getting these out on time. It was another long, tense week at work, and I just barely got my final bug fixes into the last build on Friday. But. It's done. We ship the software on Monday. I ended Thursday, which really had most of the final push, feeling accomplished, I guess, but thoroughly drained. Not a bad feeling, particularly.

Colleen and I went out for cheap but tasty Greek food at Daphne's.

Friday the UPS battery finally died on Nova's BackUPS 420. It was clearly too small (providing roughly an 11-minute uptime) and quite old, on its second (at least!) replacement battery. And I'd hauled it out of the trash at work. So it was clearly time to put a replacement on the to.do list. More about that when I post today's "adventures".

Meanwhile, it seems as though the road noise in the office may be too much for serious recording, though it's ok for scratch tracks. I'll have to try it with a cardioid mic pointed away from the window; that might work.

Another gem from 17000 Days: Creating beautiful moments

Be yourself. Often the things we're most self-conscious about are the very things that are most endearing to the people who love us. Are you the kind of person who impulsively decides to learn to play the ukulele, or makes up arguments that J. P. Morgan was really a vampire, or brings several dozen clown noses to a wedding reception? Or maybe you think you're boring, but actually, you're the one people turn to when they can't figure their lives out.

Whatever it is, give yourself permission to stop worrying what people think. Find what makes you unique, and be more like that.

I couldn't help thinking of A Talk With the Middle-Sized Bear.
