It's been a week.

I apparently got out of bed wrong this morning -- or something -- and had a bad case of vertigo. I don't recall this ever happening before; the closest I've come is a (decreasing, fortunately) number of instances of postural hypotension.

After a little research, I used Colleen's walker to get to the bathroom and take my meds and a couple of diphenhydramine (it apparently works similarly to dramamine (Dimenhydrinate) or bonine (Meclizine) -- I'm pretty sure we have one or the other of those, but I'm not sure where (you can probably tell I'm a LISP programmer (from the parentheses))), then to the kitchen and make a cup of ginger-honey tea. I picked up my cane from the entryway along the way. Good move. I then went back to bed and slept for another two and a half hours. I appear to be mostly over it, but I'm not going to do any driving today.

I actually did a little programming this week. Sunday, I threw together a quick hack to enable manual crossposting from DW to LJ. And Thursday and yesterday I worked on songbook formatting, because N had ordered three new songbook binders. The printer behaved itself -- at least when Desti wasn't sitting on it. I'm sure she's trying to be helpful. Or maybe just trying. Cat. We also had a couple of power glitches; I turned one of these into an excuse to check out WOL (Wake On LAN) on our server. It worked.

Thursday I called 911 because of a sharp pain that could have been either a muscle spasm in a left pectoral muscle, or a heart attack. (It had responded somewhat to self-massage, but not as quickly as I would have liked.) After a checkup that included an EKG, all of which looked perfectly good, the EMT techs and I agreed that it wasn't worth a trip to the ER (where they would have done exactly the same tests and come to the same conclusion, only hours later). Okay so far.

Friday was our 44th anniversary. Colleen had an appointment with her nephrologist, or so we thought -- we found out when we got there that it had been Thursday. (Usually when I see a date on my schedule that doesn't match the day of the week I assume that the date is the correct one. That's almost always true, but obviously not always.) But since it was our anniversary and we were planning to be on the mainland anyway, we arranged to have dinner with N, G, and their kids. So we scooped up the kids and went to Saffron, our favorite local Indian place. N and G, traveling separately, met us there.

So, yeah. A week. Welcome to the 2020s.

This is going to be a somewhat short s4s post tonight, because I've been spending most of the weekend on fixing my songbook formatting software. You can see the results here, in Songbook.pdf. There's a link on my main song page.

The excuse for this was the lovely new songbook binders that N ordered for the band, in time for Conflikt. And, maybe, putting it up on GitHub sometime soon (which would require a README file that hasn't been written yet).
