Done Since 2021-01-03
2021-01-10 04:10 pmIt's been an... interesting... week. Roller-coaster? That.
It started Sunday with our 45th anniversary, which we celebrated with bagels and lox. I installed the new mattress on Colleen's side of the bed -- it's an Invacare Solace 80"x36" hospital bed mattress, which means that it's the right size for our bed instead of being too wide and dangling over the edge of the frame while simultaneously being too short. It also has a fluid-resistant cover. Colleen found it much more comfortable than the old one, which is now in the spare bedroom.
Monday (the Mac Mini)Whitewood's backup drive failed its fsck
(which stands for File-System cheCK, in addition to being a good
description of the drive's current condition). It's still readable, but I
want to find a replacement before I turn the machine back on. It's over a
decade old.
Tuesday the Democrats pulled off two wins in Georgia, flipping the Senate (starting the 20th, when Pence is no longer VP), but we couldn't really be certain until the vote-counting got further along on Wednesday. Only to be temporarily put on hold for Trumpster-Fire's failed insurrection.
Right. Interesting times. If I'd been reading about it in a book I'd have thrown it across the room for being stupidly unrealistic.
Friday I received email notifying me that vaccine (Moderna) was available at Island Drug (at the other end of the island, and a place I've found to be rather flaky in the past). (This morning I booked us appointments, by which time they were already filled up into February.)
In spite of having had enough excitement for three or four normal months, we still have three more weeks to go in this one. Sheesh!
