mdlbear: blue fractal bear with text "since 2002" (Default)

Now that tRump is off the hook, the Repugs know exactly what they can get away with -- namely anything. I am not looking forward to 2022, let alone 2024. Odds are, I'll be living in a right-wing dictatorship by 2025.

We're on our second day of snow. Fortunately we won't have to go anywhere until Tuesday, by which time the predicted rain will (hopefully) have cleared the roads. Last Sunday we had hail.

As usual, I haven't gotten much done. In particular, I haven't written a curmudgeon post about the latest interesting supply chain attack, dependency confusion, so go down to Wednesday for more links if you're programming in JavaScript, Ruby, Python, or .NET and have dependencies in non-public package repositories. (Hopefully I'll get to it sometime this week, so if you didn't understand that but want to know more, it's safe for you to wait until then.)

Can I just curl up in front of the fireplace with the cats and wait for Spring? I thought not.

Notes & links, as usual )

Happy Valentine's Day to those who celebrate it -- I hope it was a good one. (If you don't, I hope it was just a good day for you, and you have my sympathy if it wasn't.) Since I neglected to do a proper s4s post yesterday, and because I've already written about some of my love songs, I'm just going to cheat and make links.

The earlier one is "Eyes Like the Morning", which I wrote the day before Valentine's day in 1990.

The next one is "The River", which I wrote two days before Valentine's day in 2008. That one also works for friendships, platonic relationships, and so on.

And because our 45th anniversary was last month, here's "Forty Five Years" by Stan Rogers.

You'll find lyrics and audio at the links.
