At least this bad (from [livejournal.com profile] theferrett)

Please bear in mind that this is not a joke -- this monstrosity belongs to some poor slob who's actually trying to sell a service! Right.

It was bad at first.

Bad colors, bad fonts, tiny pics, all info on one long page, yada yada.

Then.... after a full minute... on a cable modem link....

the background image comes up.

But that not all...

Some damned Java dancing things start fluttering around the screen.

Of course now the site is totally unreadable.

Yuck!

*Shudder!* I couldn't have come up with that as a *parody* of bad design if I'd tried.

Wow, this reminds me of a romance literary site I once logged into. The background screen for the stories was red roses. And yes, the typeface was black. And she actually put up poetry using some sort of Java aplet that made the lines wave around amid flowers.

I wrote to the site owner, and pointed out that the "features" made her site unreadable, and she got all offended on me. Missing the point entirely? Oh yes.

Why do people think these things are desirable? (Interesting how "romance" seems to be the theoretical theme of both bad examples.)

That was gross.. I see a lot like this in European Websites when I cruise for embroidery and cross-stitch sites.. I haven't seen anything this bad.
If it was in print form like in a newspaper.. gross

Wow. That font. That background. Those floating things. What were they thinking!
