Annoyances

My annoyance over the state of the house is definitely on its way to the critical point. (What happens at that point is unclear, but it may involve a shovel, a grass rake, and a box of yard trash bags.)

This morning I went to make pancakes. The drawer where the measuring cups normally live was empty. I was able to find a one-cup dry measuring cup (one) and the one-cup liquid measuring cup on the counter. There are three salad forks left, out of a set of eight. There are things on the dish drainer that have been there for two weeks, because nobody knows where they belong. The chair where I normally put today's paper contained two stacks of books from the "duplicate/old/unwanted -- please take me" box, topped by a steam iron, a cookbook, and a guitar book, all slightly soggy and stuck together. I've been up for two and a half hours and I'm still all alone (which I don't mind). I've had my pancakes; anyone else who wants some can make their own.

I'm going to finish putting away the dishes, and then go out for a walk.
