But in spite of the fact that yesterday was sufficiently summer-like, today is starting out cold. I expect it to warm up, though. We've already switched our thermostat over to "cool".

Walked about three miles yesterday, down Sand Hill Road to the Safeway where I get most of my lunches for the week. I went for "healthy" this time, loading up on the baked snap-pea crisps that I liked last week, plus a block of firm tofu (which lasts me for two days) and a small bottle of soy sauce. In the past I've often gotten a package of pepperoni, which also lasts two days -- and costs twice as much for three or four times the calories.

Installed the 400GB SATA drive in the fileserver yesterday morning; ssh'ed home and set it to formatting while doing other things. Transferred the contents of the large partition during my commute home.

Exactly how I'm going to make the switch hasn't been entirely firmed up at this point, but it will probably involve remounting the new, copied partitions in place of the old ones, letting things stabilize, then rebooting, installing grub from a rescue disk, and switching over the root. That's approximately what I did last time, which was a couple of weeks less than a year ago.

The other possibility is to do a completely clean, minimal install to get rid of transitional packages and other detritus, but I don't think it's necessary.
