Janis Ian gets married!

In Canada, where it's now legal for same-sex couples to get married, Janis Ian married her long-time partner Patricia Snyder. They then went on to spend their honeymoon at Torcon.

As the proud father of a lesbian daughter (Hi, chaoswolf!), it's difficult for me to express how happy this makes me feel -- as well as sad that my own government and, apparently, most of my fellow-citizens don't see it as a good thing at all.

But, Steve, this will trip the INS.. The Service recognizes all officially sanctioned marriages. Does this mean a Canadian and an American can get married in Canada and then apply for the Canadian to get permanent residency?? In theory, Yes...

Bet it ends up in the Supreme Court the first time somebody tries it.
