mdlbear: portrait of me holding a guitar, by Kelly Freas (freas)

Lyrics here; audio when the tune stabilizes a little more. It ended up going a lot deeper than I'd originally expected.

Somewhere in the last couple of weeks I seem to have become a morning person: I was up before 5am yesterday and today. I'm not sure where the time went. Well, OK, I do know, this time.

The River

This is an utterly spectacular lyric. I am deeply impressed and moved. Note that, in the absence of a better idea (and I am sure you will have a better idea) it can be sung to the tune of "Deportee" (music by Woody Guthrie, although my recollection is that Guthrie set a friend's poem to music, rather than writing himself as his norm; the recording of this I have is by the Byrds). Also note that I wrote a song called "The River" (on my first CD, *Rainbow's Edge*) but yours is way better.

I like this one an awful lot. Looking forward to hearing you sing it.

VERY nice.

I'm tempted to say someone should put together an album with JUST songs called "The River" ;)

That's lovely. The lyrics themselves have a very graceful flow.

If you want help tunesmithing, or want a flute accompaniment, let me know!

Beautiful. I hope you're as proud of this as it deserves.

I didn't inspire it, she inspired it. I just introduced you to it. :) I recognized at once in it the parts that were 'mine' and the parts that weren't, and am proud to be associated with something that beautiful.

1 How many bands can say they didn’t put out a bad album for 22 years or made 12 consecutively good or great albums.

It will likely sound an awful lot like the train wreck you hear in the clip (but an octave lower in your case).
