You're lucky her sense of humor matches up with yours. You could have gotten seriously hurt.

On the other hand, I suppose you have a pretty good idea what her sense of humor will let you get away with by now :-)

... and vice versa. Neither of us can resist a good pun, even when it's not at all what we'd normally say. Though I suppose I'm worse in that direction than she is.

It helped that the next thing I said was "Sorry -- I couldn't resist that one." Which is what I usually say. I figured "old bag" was at least moderately safe; now that we're well past the age appropriate for antiques our humor has definitely shifted in that direction.
