It doesn't make you old to have a grown up married daughter out of the house, it just means you've accomplished a lot as a parent.

Maybe it's your perception that people have to be old to have a married older daughter out of the house.

After all, I know of at least two people my age (or younger) who are grandparents.

No, it's that I didn't think of myself as being particularly old before. In spite of the fact that, if I'd made different investment choices, I could retire in a couple of years.
