Went pretty well; I've been fighting off a cold, the main effect being that I'm hitting the low notes a little more solidly than usual. Can't complain about that. Audience a dozen or so; the room was small enough that they didn't rattle around and make lonely noises in it.

It was a bit challenging finding songs in my repertoire that involve animals; I ended up stretching the point considerably, as you'll see if you peruse...

  1. Waltzing With Bears (Dr. Seuss)
  2. The Owl and the Pussycat (Edward Lear/trad) -- Oak, Ash and Thorn's version, to the tune of "Farewell Sweet Lovely Nancy". Got a couple of shanty-singers with that one.
  3. Little Fuzzy Animals (Frank Hayes)
  4. The Song of Wandering Aengus (Yeats/Savitzky) -- a were-trout definitely falls into the category of reaching
  5. Talking Dragon (Savitzky/trad)
  6. When the Magic Died (Savitzky)
  7. The Fans Sang "You Bash the Balrog" (Mailander/Bogle)
  8. Paper Wings (Savitzky) -- this was my excuse for a transition to computer songs...
  9. A Note on the Implementation of RFC1149 (Savitzky) -- ... but birds count, don't they?
  10. Cicero in the Twenty-First Century -- ok, we are now firmly in computer space.
  11. Vampire Megabyte (Savitzky)
  12. When I Was A Lad (Savitzky/Hayes) -- I'm about 10 years older than Frank; I don't have to exagerate.
  13. Keep the Dream Alive (Savitzky)
  14. Ship of Stone (Don Simpson)

I'd had "World Inside the Crystal" and "The Mary Ellen Carter" queued up just in case, but didn't need them -- I had introductions for almost everything, and "When I Was a Lad" always generates a bit of give-and-take with the audience. Total time came to about 52 minutes.

Hearing "Paper Wings" today was a pleasant bit of serendipity for me. [livejournal.com profile] iceblink just started folding paper cranes in the last week; her intention is to take them to BurningMan this summer and burn them at the end of the week. (I've volunteered to take them if she doesn't make it.)
