Colleen's asleep in her favorite chair -- I guess neither of us has been getting a good night's sleep. The fact that I was in bed, mostly sleeping, for 11 hours last night and the night before does not seem to have helped as much as I'd like to think it would.

A walk didn't really help much, either. That's supposed to be something I enjoy, but instead it felt a bit like slogging through some invisible mud, and I came out more depressed -- or something -- than when I started. A trip to Barefoot for coffee and a free espresso, likewise. Doesn't bode all that well for working from a coffeehouse Wednesday afternoons, but maybe with a computer and work to do it won't matter so much.

I've been vaguely depressed, and totally unable to focus, for several days now. Weeks? It's hard to remember.

Living with a bipolar person whose balance is usually somewhat depressed, I have noted that sometimes the brain chemistry just gets out of whack. It's like weather, chaotic, and sometimes there are "storms", and when a downpour (or tornado) hits, all you can do is weather it, take care of yourself, and be sure to continue taking your meds. For my Angel, these mental "storms" often clear away things, leaving a sunnier period after the storm wears itself out. I hope it will be so for you.

Alternatively, if you have a cold or some such coming on, that could make you tired, weary, and have trouble focusing. Or if you aren't eating right. Logically check whether there are other issues to address; physical un-well-ness and mental un-well-ness have many of the same symptoms, after all.

Hang in there.

"Very very tired" felt worse to me than my lifelong "mildly depressed" state, or so I remember from the days before I got treated for sleep apnea.

Interrupted sleep patterns can easily cause all the symptoms you are describing. Can someone besides you get up with Colleen for just one night while you try sleeping in another room? Couldn't your younger daughter do this? It doesn't seem to me that asking her to do it maybe one night a week would be an unreasonable request.
