The morning disappeared into a frustrating and unsuccessful search for the spare key to the Wolfling's safe, followed by taking Colleen to an 11:15 appointment at Kaiser. While getting her into the car to go home I got a call from AT&T's billing department, and damned near lost it. No, I am not basically OK right now. I'm stressed out right to the edge of breaking.

No walk, but I got my exercise walking up and down stairs at Kaiser -- both my car and Colleen's appointment were on their respective fourth floors, and I made a couple of other trips up and down. It's exercise, but it's not as relaxing as a real walk with trees and flowers.

The fact that I'm leaving tomorrow for a "vacation" with my bereaved brother isn't helping, either in terms of time or stress.

Two things did help: [livejournal.com profile] pocketnaomi calling me and singing "Jennifer's Rabbit" (she figured correctly that a lullabye would help calm me down), and a shoulder rub and good conversation from T late in the evening.

I also posted the link to PocketPoems.net now that Naomi has gone public with it. (And gotten her first commission!)

The test of my software at work turned up some more bugs, but I think there's time to fix them. I need to do some writing, too, but I can probably do that over the weekend.

And I called AT&T to find that they've been sending my bills by email to a nonexistant address, at att.net. It exists now, maybe; I checked it and found no bills there. I switched to paper. I also determined that a block of 8 static IP addresses will run me $15/month and requires a truck roll. WTF? They have to roll a truck to reconfigure my router? Probably still worthwhile.

And I still need to move my email and dump the old DSL line I'm not using.

... and somehow take time for myself, to prevent caregiver burnout. Yeah, right. LJ and coffee will have to do. Oh, that reminds me -- there are still copies of Coffee, Computers and Song for sale.

It's your celphone, not AT&T's (even if AT&T provides service on it, they do so under contract to you).

This means that you have an option: you can send them to voicemail if you don't want to talk to them. (Why'd you even look at your phone if you were getting Colleen into the car? It's just a way to allow people you want to reach you to reach you -- everyone else can go hang. As soon as I get some Google Voice invites, I'll send you one... it's really nice, and lets you categorize your contacts into 'business', 'friend', 'family', and 'everyone else'. If a call comes in from someone not on that contact list, it automatically goes into 'everyone else' for processing.

And what you can do with it... you can listen to their voicemail as they're leaving it, if you want, and jump in if it sounds important. You can record conversations. You can do a *lot*.

I'll show you sometime -- I know you've still got your parties going on on Wednesdays; may I bring my demo gear (i.e., my laptop and my celphone) to next week's? :)

Hang in there. Things will get better.

Also, thanks for the reminder about CC&S. I seem to have misplaced my copy and will probably buy a new one if it doesn't turn up.

I remember days like that, busy and frustrating... I made it through them, and I have confidence that you will too.

Been thinking about you guys, hope things get better for you.

HUGS

On the subjects of albums, you should tell me when you'll be able to get up here for a Tempered Glass rehearsal. I want my guitar and 2 bottles of wine. One from the Pack's batch, one from my vampire box.
